“Nature, Sound, Art and Sacred”, by David Dunn

After reading the article, “Nature, Sound, Art and Sacred”, by David Dunn, I found it very interesting the way Dunn saw and performed art through his mediums. Something that really stood out to me in this article as at the end of the first section, the author writes, “We hear the alien quality of the non-human in our music and the humanity of music in our nature.” I found this to be very interesting because it was the first time i read something that touched on the concept of “alien-ess” of non-human music. The article then later discusses how we create our own reality via our sense, in particular hearing and how that formed his basis of understanding about sound and music. They mentioned how music is only in constraints of entertainment, I do agree with this that music is very harshly critiqued, and deserves more artistic freedom and interpretive room. Additionally I appreciated the importance of music for society and the individual. Overall, this artist completes decontructs non-living human experiences and what it means to have a human experience, the way he provokes these thoughts and concepts is something I really enjoyed reading about since provocative art is my passion as well.

Later in the article the author discusses his interest in animals and their hapticts in comparison to humans. He further dove into this with more projects researching humminging birds or animals in Africa, he has shown a broad interest and  a very well developed understanding of these.

For my Final Project I decided to create a webventure based on Boulder culture. Initially I had other ideas, but this thought came to me...
