Artist Statement Webventure

For my Final Project I decided to create a webventure based on Boulder culture. Initially I had other ideas, but this thought came to me almost last minute and I knew I just had to create this world. I created four different paths that the viewer could choose, all based in college stereotypes. There's the frat boys, the sorority girls, the hippies, and the nerds. I aimed to be equally offensive to all groups, and really enjoyed creating this project. The easter eggs are mostly all located on the characters, and have a variety of different links attached. I wanted to create an experience that would truly show the experience I went through when I began classes at CU Boulder. It seemed like the only options for freshman girls were to either rush or do drugs and aim to be vegan. This societal pressure is so obvious and honestly makes Boulder a bit of a toxic place for a college experience. However I really aimed to make this a funny and unique experience for the viewer, overall creating a satirical effect. Finding actual images of the characters was much more difficult than I expected. Trying to find the perfect stereotype of Boulder and also having it show today's fashion. I feel like something I would like to spend more time on is the engineering page, it felt kinda cheesy and not like an actual representation of the boulder engineering program. In general I really enjoyed making this project as well as the outcome and hope others find it enjoyable as well.
